I'm a big fan of this grill. Pellets are easier but there is a bit of a taste difference between this charcoal Vs pellets. If you're an amateur smoker I suggest something with pellets but a snob like me I like the charcoal briquettes better. Just get used to starting the charcoal and then this thing is fantastic! I'm not a huge fan of the griddle top but the pizza oven works pretty well. But for smoking things this thing is incredible!

I've had this grill for two years now and it's works right just a few times they delete my review each time the support team is horrible showed them multiple pictures showing it's not heating right and they said ok and nothing further when it does work it only works on low temps. High temps is horrible. Now the fan is not working

Don't buy it! Constant grease fires, even when I just cleaned it. Insulation and other parts of the grill burn and melt. Temp prob has gone out twice on mine within a year. Always having to fix issues

The idea is fantastic and when it works correctly, it is awesome. Problem is that I said when it does work correctly. I have had this grill for a little more than a year and I already need to replace it. The fan does not work anymore and it was very sporadic when it did work. If you do not clean it after every use, it will start on fire and burn your food! It is very disappointing that it cost this much money and needs to be replaced in such a short time. I expected better quality

I originally purchased a 1050 Gravity, when I used it 3 times the controls stopped working. reluctantly I returned it and ordered another one and I'm glad I did. This grill cooks everything and does it very well. I love the fact that the engineers got it right.
I bought this in March 2023. The hopper walls burnt and warped and exposed all the aluminum fiber insulation. After writing the comments, it seems this is a common occurrence. Not only is this a health risk, being exposed to the aluminum fiber in your food, it's a lot of work throwing it away. Good idea but poor execution on quality. You have lost a customer, the name should be changed from Masterbuilt to Apprenticebuilt.

I really like it! But yesterday was my 4th time using it and already having problems with the switches that detect the hopper door is shut.
Masterbuilt 800 just delivered yesterday, assembled and ready for 1st burn. The fan isn't working, so it gets up to 80 degrees and that's it. I'm all over YouTube looking for solutions. For the price, not a good impression.
Bought the 500 series when they first came out. Wore that grill/smoker out. Next up the 800. Finally a charcoal grill/smoker you can griddle on too. Love mine, have used well over one year. Love the ease of use so much so certain dishes get baked on this instead of the indoors electric oven (pizza in my 12" cast iron skillet). I use mine to smoke pork butt, beef packer briskets, basically any and everything (eggs, bacon, on and on). Just buy one

I bought this thing a month ago and I absolutely love it. I and trying to decide what to do with my kamato grill and my gas grill and my other electric smoker I have no use for any of the other outdoor cooking appliances. If you don't have one you are missing out. I have been telling everyone how awesome this thing is

Questions & Answers
Hi Katie. The Masterbuilt Pizza Oven Insert is sold separately.
Asked by Katie | Answered by KatieHey Kyle! You can use charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal! It is important to never use fast light charcoal or lighting fluid.
Asked by Kyle | Answered by KyleHey Joel! This grill has a lid switch as a safety feature. If you set the temperature above 500F, the grill will regulate the temperature to 500F when the grill lid is open. Once the lid is closed the grill will return to the set temperature. If the set temperature is below 500F, the controller will continue to regulate the grill at the set temperature when the grill lid is opened.
Asked by Joel | Answered by JoelWhen the metal slides are inserted after cooking is over, it shuts off the air flow and the fire goes out. I usually get 3-4 burns out of a load of charcoal
Asked by Pete Stein | Answered by Pete SteinHi Dave. Error code 5 is overheating of the probes. Try to position them so that they don't get hit by flame or touch the grill surface.
Asked by Dave | Answered by DaveHi TK. The lowest temperature setting is 150 degrees, and the high is 700.
Asked by TK | Answered by TKHi Joe. Electricity is required for the fan to run which controls the temperature. Pellet grills are reliable and convenient, but they come with the stipulation that you must be near a working outlet (or have a power inverter for portable use in some cases).
Asked by Joe | Answered by JoeHi Isaac. The lowest temperature setting for this grill is 150 degrees. This is typically too high for cold smoking, and Masterbuilt does not make a cold smoking accessory for the Gravity Series at this time. I would recommend checking out some BBQing forums for tips possibly.
Asked by Isaac | Answered by IsaacHi Jason. Yes, it must be plugged in to a grounded 120VAC outlet.
Asked by Jason | Answered by JasonYes! :-)
Asked by Joel | Answered by JoelHi Joel. Yes, a standard grounded 120VAC plug.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
