Warranty
If the ice machine fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship, during the limited one (1) year warranty, GE Appliances will either replace your product with a new or remanufactured product, or refund the purchase price of the product at GE Appliances sole discretion. Labor not included.

I bought the Opal 2 with side tank from Axxzon and paid for an extended warranty due to the negative reviews I read. For the first 8 months, I absolutely loved this icemaker, but then the common problem affected me. The auger squealing started, worsened and finally seized up. I contacted GE support (who is a separate company GE farmed out to) because it was within the 1 year warranty, but support refused to honor the warranty stating the seller on Axxzon was not an official GE reseller. Thankfully, the extended warranty from Allstate saved the day, ultimately refunding the purchase price back to me after determining it was not possible to repair the problem. The icemaker has an apparent flaw and GE and the support company they use are utterly worthless for repairs and support. If you buy one, make sure it is an officially affiliated vendor and pay for the extended warranty because you will ultimately need it.

I love having an Opal ice maker, this is my second one, first one lasted 5 years. I wish the side water container was bigger since I use everyday several times. I feel like I fill more often then my last one. After a couple of days it wasn't releasing water to make ice so I switched out cover and started working again. I like the black stainless steel, matches my other stuff. I am also glad that I can set it to start making ice at 4 am so by the time I get up there is enough ice to fill my 2 Stanley's.

Super easy to set up and clean to start making ice. It is the perfect chewy ice for drinks. The noise of the motor is fairly quiet, especially in a room with a vaulted ceiling.

We have had two other countertop ice makers both of which were noisier than ideal. We are pleased with this unit as it is substantially quieter. Furthermore the noise it does make is less innocuous than the other machines we have had. It is well set up and thought through. The app to set a schedule is very handy as I don't think a smart plug would work as buttons would need to be pressed to start it make my ice each day - which would defeat the purpose of a timer.

Love this ice maker!! It was quick to make ice, I don't have to store the ice in another container and it recycles the water from the melted ice and makes new.

Obsessed with my ice maker! Isn't too loud and makes plenty of ice. I run it three different points throughout the day and it makes enough to keep me going through the day. I was a little concerned about dropping this much money on something frivolous, but it was well worth it.

We have purchased 2 of these in under 3 years. The first one stopped working around 12-14 months- we had not a single issue except the sudden stoppage of making ice, after 2 months of trying for repairs we tossed it. And the current, second machine is about 6 months old, and it screams. Literally screeches constantly. We have to leave the machine unplugged more than plugged in. Especially at night, it wakes us up in the middle of night- think phantom baby screams. GE for the price- this product needs to be better. And customer service opal line… either understaffed, inefficient or lazy… takes 30+ minutes to answer. So called beware… I've been pawned off from agent to agent and also disconnected… I have received no advice, suggestions, help from any agent thus far.

We bought this machine about 1-1 1/2 years ago. Kept it clean… this last time we cleaned it it was so nasty it looked like snot coming out of the tubing… hooked it back up like normal and it won't make ice anymore. I've tried everything. It's a bummer that other people have spent less on a nugget ice maker and their machines have been running for way longer than ours did.

Product died within 4 months. Refused to make ice, nothing had changed. All the troubleshooting didn't work. Same issues others have reported.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
