Was an awesome cooker. In less than 3 years it has rusted away. Replacement parts are not worth the repairs. For a grill that cost 300. USD.
First 10 seconds of operation the auger broke. Customer service said they will send the parts and I can fix it myself. Not what I expected from a supposedly top of the line product. And definitely not what I expected from top of the line customer service. When I took the cover off the bottom, the auger motor literally fell to the ground.
After a controller issue and a long wait I got the part I needed. The grill has served me well ever since,
I bought my CampChef pellet grill cover less two years ago and it already broke. It won't heat up and it keeps giving me am error message. I'm not at all happy with this product.

This has no grease tray, the grease from burgers, does not evaporate, it drains through the diffuser plate, onto the burner & metal tray below, also all over my concrete patio, I don't recommend this at all, get the sear burner, had one & it works, now I have to by the griddle just for burgers, i purchased 2 weeks ago from bbq guys for my birthday on 9/5, I've emailed camp chef, guess they don't care. The diffuser plate is attached to the whole sidekick grille assembly, you have to take it off & hose off or put in the kitchen sink to clean like i did. truly disappointed in camp chef i've had another CC smoker for last 6 years.

Love the results! Brisket, ribs, pork butts perfect. However, the griddle was rusted before I even had a chance to use it. The lid, handle and hinges are loaded with rust. The Wi-Fi app (one big reason for buying this) is impossible to use. Wishing I had gone another direction.

We have had this grill for about two years. It's a great smoker, but it does not have the capacity to reach high temperatures for grilling and it gets worse over time even if you clean it. You're better off buying a smoker and a real grill separately.
This grill is horrible. Only smokes on start up and shutdown. Can set it at 250 and see as low as 125 and high as 375 with the basic smoke setting of 1. Gets even crazier when you set smoke number higher. Still no steady smoke even at smoke setting of 10. Gives huge smoke like at startup once every half hr to an hr.
I've been using this for a few months now, and love it. It is folded into my cooking routines as much as using my regular stove is, in other words it is not a novelty but now an essential element. The larger surface area and higher heat allows for quick searing of way more food than would be manageable on a traditional 8-12" skillet, not to mention how much bringing the cooking process outdoors keeps your kitchen free of excess steam, smoke, oil splatter, etc. I also routinely remove the griddle top to cook with my flat bottomed wok and the high heat allows for rapid wok style cooking. It's not at the level of a true wok burner but it's most of the way there, and far better than most indoor home ranges. We just bought the 14" pizza oven attachment and that rules, too! It opens up the possibility for great flat breads, pizzas, and I'm going to experiment with tandoori style cooking. And again, I love that it's all outdoors. No sacrifice in kitchen space, keeps the heat, gas, smells, smoke, oil, etc. all outside. It's such a simple yet versatile solution: a single big powerful burner, and it's outside.
I purchased this unit with the 24" Pro. The Pro is what we've been needing in the pellet stove market for years. The smoke box is IT! Now the sidekick... I have tried no less then 5 different aluminum grease catch inserts. They fit, however the hole in the griddle isn't lined up and the grease falls behind the insert. Additionally, the unit arrived with a none working ignitor. I use my propane torch. An electric battery style ignitor is only a few more dimes. My Pro arrived to two major dents in the side. It appears the the pellet burner grease catch was unsecured and struck the unit from the inside. It sucks to get such a nice unit and you need to hammer dent's out. I may just return it.
Questions & Answers
I am sorry but do not live where it snows. As far as Windy conditions it will hold up fine. My Grill has spent two years outside under only the cover through severe Heat, Humidity, Wind and Rain. I see no signs of rust. It did make it through 50 mph wind without cover or Grill movement. I would think it would be fine in Snowy conditions. Good Luck
Asked by Jill | Answered by JillHi, Jill. Yes, the cover will help to protect and prevent damage during snowy and windy winters. We would advise that you not store it with pellets remaining in the hopper for worry that they absorb water as snow melts - wet pellets dissolve and can clog up the auger. We would also recommend that the grill be unplugged for storage.
Asked by Jill | Answered by JillHi, Michael. The removeable Sear box can be used as a grill. There are other components that can also be used on the Sidekick.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
