Good griddle, horrible instruction manual.

The griddle seems well built, but like others mentioned the instruction or better said the here you go figure it out parts manual is terrible, the power supply had 4 welded screws and nowhere to be mounted on griddle, ended up mounting on the stone of my outdoor kitchen, I ended up with twi pieces left that I couldn't find any where in the manual, they're next to the griddle in one of thr pictures, I also took picture of how I mounted the power supply ended up making a bracket out of aluminum plate to bolt under the counter, but other that it was pretty much drop, plumb gas and plug power supply and your ready to cook.

Great Griddle!!!

Finally got griddle installed and love it. Seasoned and low temped. Then next day brought up temp slowly and got screaming hot. Zero complaints. Looks great with full set up. Definitely recommend!!!!

perfect griddle for family

very nice griddle and easy to use, I prefer this griddle than my BBQ grill due to its versatility. You could cook omelet on it, you could cook cheesesteak and burger on it. You could cook shrimp, chicken, fish, steak and fried rice on it. You could even cook fajita and carne asada without losing the juice of the marinades. The smaller portion of food like shrimp or crumbly food like fish and burger won't fall to the burner between grill grates.

Great overall grill

This is my first built in griddle. I've had it a couple weeks now and have cooked a half dozen or so meals on it. Everything has turned out great. The griddle is very easy to operate, temperature is pretty easy to regulate, and its easy to clean. I'd give it 5 stars but there are a few minor items that I caution buyers about, not to dissuade you from buying it, but to prevent you from making the same mistakes I did. For one, the manual gives cutout dimensions for the grill and cautions the installer to make sure you measure your final countertop height and subtract that from your cutout dimension. It doesn't caution you to measure any additional depth you are putting on your frame with the likes of cement board or brick siding. In my case, I didn't account for those things and I ended up with an extra inch of cutout space at the back that I've had to go back and cover. Secondly, during the first use, the grill took a very long time to reach desired heat. I had it on high for 30 minutes before the surface hit 300F. Not sure if this was normal for new griddles of this construction, but the manual is silent on it and customer service wasn't sure. After initial use and building up a coating on the surface, the grill heats up pretty good now in about 5 minutes. Third, if you need to disassemble the grill to get to the burners or to make any adjustments, its not the easiest thing in the world to do. You need a certain type of phillips screwdriver to reach some of the screws that hold the plate in place. Other things of note: Delivery was as expected. The customer service when I called and placed the order was excellent. The grill is heavy so you'll need two people to lift it. I think this is an excellent "Starter" model as its not too expensive. I look forward to cooking on it for years to come.

There are better options out there

I had high hopes when I bought this griddle top. It looked great, all SS and drop-in. However, after a few uses, there are enough major design flaws that I cannot recommend this product. For starters, the griddle top is not sealed (welded) between the griddle top and sides allowing grease to flow into seams around the edge. This might be okay except that the drip pan basin is poorly designed. The pan sits in the basin at the front of the griddle. The width of the pan is shorter than the width of the basin. Because the griddle top has a seam along its outer edges, oil can flow in the seam and enter the sides of the basin, bypassing the drip pan and accumulating under it in the basin. This is a mess to clean up! My next issue is the cleanup of the grill itself. The griddle top is easy to clean after use, however, there is a SS vent cover on the back of the griddle top where heat exhausts from under the griddle. This vent gets coated in splattered oil and it blackens. You have to remove this vent cover and scrub the heck out of it to get it back to looking anywhere near new. My third issue is that the SS cover that comes with this unit is not designed to drain water away from the sides or front of the griddle. This is not a problem if your unit is located where it will not get any rain/water on it. However, this allows any water that comes off of the cover to go into the sides, back, and front of the griddle. Now that is okay as there is a catch pan underneath the unit but it will fill up in heavy rain. However, the main concern here is that water does get into the drip pan basin. If you fire up the grill and do not notice this when oil bypasses the drip pan and enters the basin, see the comment from above, you WILL get violent oil splattering as the hot oil vaporizes the water which is in a tight space. I experienced this firsthand - not pleasant!

Question:
Does this get a seasoning on it to make it non stick? Similar to a blackstone.
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi AJ. Stainless steel griddles will take "seasoning" the top just like other metals.

Answer:
Yes the grill has to be seasoned before use. I clean my grill after each use and put on a light coat of oil. It is an awesome grill and friendly to use.

Is a power supply required? If you don't plug it in, other than the lights, will the grill still operate?

Question:
Can this griddle be connected to a house propane line? Or does it need to be connected to a separate propane tank like you would use for a bbq grill?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Jeremy. The Turbo Griddle will include hose and regulator for a standard 20-pound LP tank. Your installer can plumb in a regulator set specifically for bulk propane supply.

Question:
Does the metal cover keep water out if not built under a roof? I read that the Blaze griddle cover does not but hoping this one does.

Answer:
I have never had a water issue but then again 8 live in Arizona so not much rain. But… best grill I ever had. Will never go back to standard fire grill.

Asked by Has bbqAnswered by apagni12

Answer:
No it does not. The drip tray and grease trays fill up with water in the rain. I had a custom cover made though, and that keeps the water out. Virus-free.

Asked by Has bbqAnswered by rich.newpol

Answer:
Yes, it keeps the water out.

Asked by Has bbqAnswered by jtsap

Answer:
Mine has been outside and uncovered for about 5 years now, and the metal cover that I keep on top of the cook top keeps water and debris out. I use it quite often and has been a really great purchase in my opinion. I use it about once a week. Hope this helps.

Question:
Hello. I would like to convert my Turbo griddle from propane to natural gas. Do you have a conversion kit that will work?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Brenda. Turbo Grills does not offer conversion kits for their products, conversion would have to be handled by a licensed professional. Please note that fuel type conversion of Tubo Grills products voids any and all warranty coverage.

Question:
Hello what is the best way to clean this grill?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hello! The best way to clean this grill is to allow the surface to cool completely and then wipe the plate, with the grain, with a rough cloth to remove any food or residue. You can use a mixture of vinegar and water with a scouring pad to scrub off any cooked-in food. Then you rinse it off real good with lukewarm water and you are good to go!

Question:
Does this Turbo Grills 32-Inch Built-In Natural Gas Teppanyaki - TEPANNG require external power to function? I want to place it in an outdoor island that has no electrical power? Is this battery operated or plug-in?

Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking! This grill does need to be plugged in to an outlet or an adequate power supply source.

Question:
Does the grill have ventilation? Is there a suction fan that vents through the back slots? If so, how is the fan controlled and where does the vented air go?
Was This Helpful?
Answer:
Hi Justin. There is no fan. The slotted part you see on the back of the griddle is the flue, where the heat escapes naturally. If you were using this under a covered patio or similar, you would need to have a vent hood installed - and that goes for any outdoor cooking equipment!

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
