I've had this Keg for over 4 years. I use it for 2 hour smokes of chicken and much longer cooks of brisket and pork butt. I use it maybe 10 times a year. It's sitting on a covered deck with the BK cover although I often fail to cover it as I should after it cools down, so it does get exposed to some rain and snow moisture. I have it installed in the broil king table and it's been a joy. It's not corroding, its grates are perfect. There is a learning curve to holding 225 degrees F but that probably true of any unit. I use a high quality premium lump charcoal and add chunks or chips for my flavor. I've considered adding a fan and fire board unit but it's definitely not essential. I think this has been money well spent.

Bolts rusted off that attach to the sides and not sure if this is repairable . When it was working it was a great grill
The Keg is by far my favorite grill/smoker and I cook everything on it. I bought it about a year ago and it may be the best grill purchase I have ever made. I also own a Broil King Pellet grill and can't wait to decide on the next Broil King product to add to my collection. The accessories for the keg are excellent. I have the pizza stone, tools, cover and hitch adapter. I would like to see a better design for transporting it on the trailer hitch though, as there is a lot of movement and it flips around too much. A ratchet strap did the job (sort of) to help with that issue, but I will probably weld something up and modify it to stop that issue. The simplicity of use, load, light, clean, etc. is great! Even when I'm in a hurry after a busy work day. I don't find I lose any more time than a gas grill and if I do, the flavour makes up for it. When smoking it performs like no other! Love the satisfaction of inspecting the deep smoke ring on food I've been anticipating for hours! This is a versatile grill for any outdoor kitchen and you won't regret it as you serve up the best BBQ to your friends and family.
I bought this Keg 5000 in 2015 or 2016 and still looks like new. After the learning curve, everything taste better on it. It can be used as oven to cook and work great in winter even with way below freezing days.

I was looking for a regular charcoal grill but saw the keg and really liked the look and features. Now that I'm using it I like it even more. It keeps steady heat at 250 F if I want or I can sear steaks at 600 and anything in between. Easy to clean and seems to stand up to the elements well
Just bought this and have used it a couple of times. Grills nice. Gives off plenty of heat. You don't have to use much charcoal since it retains heat so well. I find using the upper and lower vents don't make all that much a difference in temperature change.
I've owned this grill for 6 years, and all in all it's my favorite go to bbq. However, after considering my usage history and looking at other comments, I would recommend Broil King consider: a) The swinging upper grill has been replaced twice - it's much less durable and eventually gives out if you're using it with anything heavier than chicken wings (ribs, chicken quarters etc); b) My original grill had a small insert to add charcoal that I loved, but after the grill broke and I repalced it, the new once don't have the insert - would love to have that back for long grills where you need to add a little more charcoal; c) which leads to my last comment - the balance is off on the removal tool location - and the grill has a tendancy to swing - if it was not in the center, the balance would be better - unforutnaltey, when I took it out on day it swung off the tool and broke (see above). I now have a heavy-duty bbq glove that I can use to balance, but even that is only good for a second or two - so removing the grill once it's hot to put it higher or lower is a little bit of a dangerous dance. That being said - it's showing it's wear but has been outside without cover since i bought it - so that wear is more than acceptable and I'll be buying a new one shortly.

The rubber seals have been needed to be replaced.on both smokers purchased. The heat goes very high because of this. My hope is that they redesign a more efficient option.

Had this for about 3 years now. It is so versatile and well made. I use it for smoking, baking and grilling. Never had an issue. I did an 18 hour brisket on it and still had a good amount of charcoal left.
This BBQ is the best one I've ever owned! Will never go back to gas again! Food comes out delicious every time, no flare ups and this Keg holds temperature amazingly well. Endless hours of coolio f with no reloading of charcoal! A must for all BBQ lovers!
Questions & Answers
Hello. It can be built into a non-combustible enclosure or cabinet. But for freestanding applications, it is meant to be used on the stand.
Asked by Uncle leo | Answered by Uncle leoHello. You may want to consider using a grill pad underneath your grill. That way, if something does fall out, the grill pad will block it from reaching your deck. Here's our selection of grill pads: https://www.bbqguys.com/grill-accessories/grill-pads

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
