Do not buy this product

When this ice maker was working, it was really really good. Eventually after just two years of having the ice maker, it started giving me problems and stopped working. It would not make ice anymore, though it was still running. Blaze does have good customer service and sent all the parts to me and I replaced everything. Even after replacing, the ice maker never worked again to create any ice. What sucks is that blaze doesn't offer any type of extended warranty and you will be stuck buying a new one. I will get ankthwr one through Best Buy and get a 5 year warranty. Unfortunately with blaze, their products do not last long. Also had an issue with their outdoor fridge after just one year but that's another story.

Don't buy this product

This was a great product when it was working. Like all the reviews, this only lasted me two years before it messed up. I wouldn't even run it all the time to preserve its life as much as possible. Do save yourself money and buy another brand.

I would not buy this product again.

In five years, we've owned 2 of these machines, each one lasting no more than 2 years. The customer service tries to assist by sending parts you have to install yourself but both times this did not fix the machine. Save your money and purchase another brand. This machine is supposed to be top of the line but it is not.

Terrible product

This is installed in my outdoor kitchen and runs from June to September. The first one died after 2 seasons and could not be repaired. I replaced it. The second one lasted one season. NO MORE BLAZE PRDUCTS FOR ME, and a warning to all.

Might as well be a paper weight

I have had the ice maker running nearly a year and has only made a couple bins of ice. I have a warranty with New Leaf (through BBQ Guys), and it has been approximately five months since my last warranty claim. While they have relented to giving me a new ice maker, nobody can tell me when it will be here. Worst purchase I've ever made.

Cloudy sheets of ice and noisy

Terrible ice production. I have tried a different filter and different settings, but there is nothing that I have found that will improve the ice. The unit is now 1.5 years old and the pump is making a horrific squealing noise.

Good Buy!

Excellent product! I have this ice maker outside at my summer home in the mountains. It keeps up with the demand from a good sized group. Makes a ton of ice.

I would not purchase this ice maker again.

I have an outdoor kitchen with a Blaze ice maker. My source of frustration is that the ice comes out in sheets instead of cubes. Since it constantly makes ice, every time I open the door I find myself taking the ice scoop and breaking the sheets apart. That was okay the first day but it soon became a nuisance. I had a number of conversations with the importer. They offered to replace the ice maker (a nice gesture) but I said no. From what they told me, it seems like the ice maker was designed in this manner. Yes, you can adjust the cube thickness but all that does is reduce OR increase the weight of the sheet. It does nothing to break the ice into cubes. When it came time to purchase an ice maker for an Outdoor Kitchen at my Florida home, I purchased a competitor's model. It's working splendidly. I paid 40% more but I'm getting plenty of clear ice cubes w/o the hassle of breaking the ice apart. I planning on replacing the Blaze ice maker as soon as the weather warms up. Question:
What is the reason this component needs a dedicated circuit with its very own circuit breaker (only supporting that one outlet)? This seems very limiting and requires significant electrical upgrades to install. Was This Helpful?
Answers:

Hi, Keegs. Due to the electronics used in most refrigeration, manufacturers will require dedicated supply circuits.

Question:
I am seeing reviews on this product that states that there is an issue with the ice freezing in a sheet and needing to be broken up each time it makes ice. Also that the ice is melting Very quickly as if it's not frozen well. There are not but a handful of reviews on the entire internet anywhere that can help give me any insight into the quality and performance of this ice maker. This is a lot of money and too large of an item to deal with returns etc if it doesn't work properly. We just bought all new Blaze appliances including 40" grill, refrigerator, griddle and side burner. We just endured a fire in our new outdoor kitchen and I just can't take much more disappointment and heartbreak with it. Please give me honest feedback on these issues others are saying is a problem and that it's a shouldn't buy item. Thanks. Was This Helpful?

My ice maker also does the same thing. Comes off with 16-20 pieces. Some are clumpy and some not. Quite a bit of moisture and melting also. Dave

Asked by Melissa | Answered by Melissa

The system makes sheets of ice that fall into the bin. As the ice fills up the distance for the sheets to fall is shorter so they don't always break up completely. But the ice sheets arent hard to break up with a little jostling in the bin using the provided metal scoop. As for the melting, this happens over time since the system is not a freezer. It just continuously makes ice as the sheets in the bottom of the bin melt. It's actually pretty efficient. For the quality, I actually had my system break once and had to return it to get a replacement. The Blaze team was great and the entire process was free of charge. The return was a bit if a pain, but they set up the pick up, which was nice. I've been very happy with it since last September when it was replaced.

Question:
I need to be informed on the proper way to run your blaze 50 series cubed ice machine off of a solar system that is only designed to power that unit so it is able to move with the unit thanks James DalyWas This Helpful?
Answers:

Hi There! The unit requires a dedicated 15 AMP circuit. If your solar panel can meet the electrical requirements listed in the manual then you should not have any trouble. Hope this helps!

Question:
Are there any other steps that I must take in order for this icemaker to be placed outside. I plan on having this sit on my covered patio in connection with an outdoor kitchen. Is there any other type insulation that I have to have for this to work in the hot summer or to keep it from freezing in the winter? At this time I plan on placing it free standing and with nothing around it.Was This Helpful?
Answers:

Hi Gunnar! This ice maker is made to perform between 50 - 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is to go above or below those temperatures then power to the unit must be cut (either unplugged or trip the breaker - turning off the unit is not enough). Running the unit outside of the approved temperatures can lead to components to fail. There are also instructions for long term storage on page 17 & 18 of the manual. Hope this helps.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
